Jesus, in Galilee,  begins to call his 12 disciples, who (all but one) would become the Apostles of the Church. Simon was a fisherman on the Sea of Galilee, and was based in the town of Capernaum.  He had already experienced the healing power of Jesus when his mother in law recovered from a fever by the Word spoken over her.   Jesus heals a leper and a paralytic, then, calls Levi, the hated tax collector. Levi, also called Matthew, likely did not know Jesus previous to the moment, yet he follows Jesus immediately.  The calling of the disciples is directly related to the healing and redemptive power of Jesus of Nazareth available to to all people.
